The Q&A Archives: Sick Windmill Palm

Question: Hi - I've recently moved into a new house with a Windmill Palm, a plant I have no experience with! Since movoing in it become very sick, all fronds are brown and many have fallen off. I believe that it may not have received enough water. Is there anything that I can do to revive it?

Answer: Susan,

Water deeply on an infrequent basis during dry period of the year. Apply about an inch of water every couple of weeks unless rain occurs. It may be that the plant was recently planted and has not developed a strong extensive root system yet. This will take care of itself in time with proper care.

The plant should recover and be fine unless the growing point at the top of the trunk it dead.
