WHERE WE LIVE THERE IS A LOT OF CLAY IN THE GROUND..ITS STILL IN THE BUCKET. HOW DO WE START? WHAT KIND OF SOIL? JUST THE USUAL BEGINNER QUESTIONS. PLEASE HELP. LISA |
Lisa, Mix some compost into the soil and build up a slightly raised planting area to facilitate drainage in your black clay soil during extended rainy spells. Plant the palm at the same depth it was growing in the container or slightly higher. Water it in well and keep the soil moist but not soggy for the first warm season. Fertilize with a soluble plant food such as Miracle Grow during the first season. You can use a turf fertilizer after that. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
