I own a small lot with a large number of dead hemlock. I am replanting with a variety of evergreens but also purchased a number of Canadian Hemlock. Question is: Are these hemlocks just as succeptable to the wooly adelgid as native hemlocks? I live in New Jersey. Thank you, Julian |
I'm afraid all hemlocks are susceptible to attacks from wooly adelgids. If you can treat the problem before the population explodes, you can control it. This is fairly easy on newly planted trees, but mature specimens will need to be sprayed by professionals with the proper equipment. Wish I had better news for you! |
