Can Prunus besseyi survive in my area? I would like to use it as a hedge up the driveway. |
Prunus bessyi, Sand Cherry, is a very hardy shrub that grows 3-6 feet tall and produces sweet black cherries that are used for pies, jams and jellies. These plants will survive cold, wind, and arid conditions, and are hardy to below-freezing temperatures. If you choose to plant these shrubs, make sure to help them get established by applying one-inch of water per week for an entire year. After that time they should be happy with whatever moisture nature supplies. |
