Hello, I would like to plant an accent tree in front of my dining room window. I plan on taking the existing shrubs out and re-designing that area. Our water line comes into the house there, what would be a good dwarf tree that I would not have to worry about the roots going down into the soil and harming the water pipes or coming to the top of the soil and becoming unsightly. Also, I am interested in the Fat Albert Colorodo Blue Spruce for another location, what do you think of that tree? Thanks! |
For trees that will reliably remain under 20' tall, I recommend semi-dwarf apple trees, or an ornamental crab or cherry. They'll provide shade and color, and fruit as well. If you want to try evergreens, check out the smaller junipers and white cedars in local nurseries. They come in many different growth habits, so ask plenty of questions about the mature shape and height you can expect. Best of luck! |
