What is the cause of the leaves on Bergenia to become dry and blackened. They were sited in a shady, rather dry location, but watered frequently. No sign of insect pests. |
You'll want to remove the affected leaves and then trim the plant down after flowering. Bergenia will take full sun and look best when they receive ample moisture. Sometimes fertilizer will burn leaves and cause them to turn black. Some diseases willhave the same effect, as will severe frost. Let's hope for the best and presume it's frost damage. Just remove the leaves and destroy them, then watch your plant for additional signs of problems in the spring. |
