The Q&A Archives: iris

Question: Do you cut the top of an iris plant off in the fall?

Answer: It's best for the plants to leave the foliage alone until it dies down on its own. This allows the roots to replenish themselves (through photosynthesis). After the foliage dies down on its own, you can pull or cut it from the rhizome.
