| Although evergreen, bamboo actually will lose some older leaves year round as the new foliage comes in. It is also possible your bamboo was overwatered during the recent extreme rains -- bamboo likes moisture but not saturated soil. Also, if you have already brought the bamboo indoors for the winter it may be adjusting to a change in the light; finally, while it is slowed down for winter make sure to cut back on watering and do not fertilize it. If you do not think any of the above scenarios fit, I would suggest you contact your Cornell cooperative extension or your local professionally trained nursery staff for help in troubleshooting.
