Could you tell me, is there anything special that I have to do to the Mountain Fire to get through the winter? We are in the lower part of PA and we can usually get a good bit of snow, with just plain cold weather. Thanks

Pieris japonica x floribunda 'Mountain Fire' gets its cultivar name from the bright red leaves of late winter or early spring. These soon age to mahogany & chestnut, then to shiny green. Being thoroughly evergreen, when spring's red leaves arrive, they are always mixed about with the previous year's leaves of pure green, thus at a glance look like red flowers bursting upon the bush.

Pieris is completely hardy in your growing region so there's nothing special you need to do. In the spring, when new growth begins, you can do some light pruning to encourage lots of firey new growth.

Enjoy!
