The Q&A Archives: Daphnes

Question: Can I grow Daphne Carol Mackie in a shady spot? Our soil is rocky but well-drained. The spot will get about 4 hrs of sun a day.

Answer: Daphne should be planted in partial shade, in a moist well-drained loam enriched with leaf mold. I would be sure to mulch it well with leaf mold or compost since it's in rocky soil. Then over the years that leaf mold will benefit the plant. <br>
