| What would you suggest as a very low maintenance plant/shrub to place in an urn on a front porch (about 4ft tall or so)? I was thinking some type of evergreen, but have no idea where to begin and what type of care would be required (Zone 6). |
| The most important consideration is the amount of sunlight the plant will receive. Most dwarf evergreens will adapt to growing in containers, and will thrive if exposure to sunshine (or shade, as required) is met. Keep the soil moist but not soggy wet, and your new plants should be happy. Some plants to consider include LITTLE GEM NORWAY SPRUCE (Picea abies 'Little Gem'). Glossy blue-green needles have prominent white bands on the undersides. Full sun. Slow grower to 7 to 9 feet tall and as wide.
