The Q&A Archives: bicolor iris and cold hardiness

Question: Will bicolor iris potted rather than planted in the ground freeze in Cold Hardiness Zone 8? What should the winter care be for these plants? Thanks for your help.

Answer: Sheryl,

It should be fine. You might want to move the pot to an area somewhat protected from the cold north winds. Up against a building is good. Grouping pots closely together can also help protect them during very cold spells.
