| I have a tropical hibiscus which I brought inside when the weather turned cold. It has continued to bloom beautifully but the leaves continue to turn yellow and fall off. It is in a southern window. I have transplanted it into a larger pot and am using a grow light to give it additional light, but the leaves continue to fall. I'm afraid it will soon be bare. It appears to have adequate drainage when watered. What could the problem be and what might I do? Thanks! |
| Yellowing can be a natural response to being moved indoors while it adjusts to the change. It might also be due to overwatering, if it is mainly at the base of the plant. Indoors it usually needs a bit less water than it did when it was outdoors in the wind and sun, and repotting into a different soil or larger container can also contribute to accidental overwatering. Make sure it is not in a draft as this can cause leaf loss. Finally, check it carefully for insects as sometimes their population can skyrocket in the sheltered conditions inside.
