I live in South Carolina and have a Japanese maple tree. Is it natural for it to brown & or drop leaves this time of year?

Japanese maple trees are deciduous so it is perfectly natural for them to lose their leaves when the weather gets cold. Not to worry - it will produce healthy new leaves next spring. Enjoy!
