I have one of your Miscanthus sineusis 'Gracillimus'in a patio container. It is through the bronze autumn color and now the leaves are dried up dead. When should I cut the grass back? What do I do until summer? I can't find the answer on your website. Thanks. |
Miscanthus foliage typically dies back with the first frost of the season. You can cut the dead foliage off the plant now, or leave it alone until early next spring. I tend to leave the dead foliage on my ornamental grasses because I like the look when frost or even snow coats the leaves. But, if you find dead leaves unattractive, you can certainly cut them off the plant. In March you'll find new green growth beginning to emerge; cut down all the dead foliage at that time. Best wishes with your garden! |
