I purchased several Monrovia Camellias from California at Pike's nursery here in Atlanta over the weekend. Has the problem with the Sudden Oak Death from the soil of the Camellias from Monrovia that I heard about last year been corrected? In other words, is it OK to plant these Camellias in my yard where I have many old oak trees? Thank you.

Michael,

Monrovia took prompt steps to isolate the problem and has worked with the USDA to help prevent the spread of Sudden Oak Death. I suggest if you would like more detailed information on the disease and/or Monrovia's response you contact them directly. A past press release lists the following person as the contact at Monrovia for Sudden Oak Death Questions:

Katie Bloome, 800-999-9321 ext 277 or at [email protected].
