I cut back our 10 foot Banana Plants 12/15/05 and thought I was doing my wife a favor. She claims I have killed them. Please let me know if I cna save these plants in this Houston weather. They are wacked down to 2 feet.
Can I cover the stumps? Can I give mouth to mouth? Please advice

Bari,

No problem sir, you are off the hook and out of the doghouse! They will resprout. Some may resprout from the center of the cut stalks if the winter cold is not too bad. Covering the "stumps" with a tarp on freezing nights will help protect them and increase the chances that the original trunks will resprout. Otherwise they will regrow from small side plants that emerge from the base.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
