I did not get my bulbs planted in time this fall and now is is snowing and so cold. what should I do? I would like to have flowers in the spring. Grape Hyacinths , Tulips Thank you cindy |
You could plant them in containers and store them in a cool dark place such as a garage where it will be cold but not so cold that the soil freezes solid. Water sparingly to keep the soil from going bone dry. They will need to chill for between two and four months, depending on what variety of tulip you have. In the early spring when the weather begins to moderate, set the container outside. Otherwise you can try to force them. Here are instructions on how to do that. http://www.garden.org/subchann... Good luck with your bulbs! |
