we were given a tree for our first christmas together. we were married yesterday and we are going too use the tree for our first christmas tree. can the top be snipped? when do we plant the tree after the holidays? I am unsure when to plant and trim as I have never grown this type of tree. Thank you

The top can be snipped. Get the tree back outdoors as soon as you can so it can get good light again. Plant it any time you want from now to March, the sooner the better. Plant in an area with good sunlight and good soil drainage. It should not require much trimming, especially if it is to be a landscape tree.
