| I don't have a copy of La Vie Claire so I can't say for certain what's in the photo. However, most periodicals have photo credits so you may have the answer right in your hands. Given the nature of the periodical (touring France), and the fact that you are seeing a field of flowers, I'd guess you're looking at lavender rather than lilacs, and that the photo may very well be a field of French lavender.
