When is the best time to plant one? Our friends bought one as a Christmas tree (in a planter) and now we would like tp plant it.

What a terrific gift! Wait to transplant until early spring, after your last frost date. Then as the soil warms, its roots can start to grow. Keep your tree well-watered during its first year in the ground to help establish the root system. Water should soak as deep as the root system and be applied at the outer drip line, or canopy edge. This is where feeder roots are actively absorbing water and expanding outwards.
