Pruning Hot Lips Salvia - Knowledgebase Question

How far back should I prune my Hot Lips Salvias? They are approximately
3' high and at least that wide. Should I cut them back by 2/3?? Should I
do the pruning in early January and, if not then, when should it be done.
I live in Westchester not far from LAX.

In late winter (February or March) thin interior of your salvia to reduce its size. Salvia responds with new flowering wood when cut back by one third. Dead head old spent flower stems when they complete flower schedules all year and your salvia should always look attractive.
