I am planning to plant several Hydrangas in North Georga during my Christmas break. I need to know what kind to buy and what to add to the soil to make the blooms a light blue color. We are preparing an existing bed at the site of my daughters wedding reception. We also want to use some of the blooms in vases on the tables. We just want to make sure if we buy blue hydrangas that the blooms don't turn out purple! Thank you very much

Nikko Blue is probably the bluest hydrangea and will remain blue if you treat your soil to maintain acidity. If your soil is alkaline add peat moss or sulfur to lower the pH. Soil treatments can take a full year to affect the color of the flowers so if you choose the bluest blue hydrangeas and plant them now, this season's blooms should remain blue. Best wishes with your shrubs and the wedding reception~
