This fungus is very difficult to control once it has taken hold on your plants, and weather conditions can aggravate it as well. Some cultural steps can help limit the infection, including avoid wetting the foliage when you water the plants and be sure to thoroughly clean up and dispose of any trimmings, prunings, and fallen foliage. In cases where the infection is severe, you may need to spray. Please consult with your local county extension for the most current spray recommendations for North Carolina. They should be able to tell you specifically what to use and when to apply it based on your local weather.
