| Here are my favorites: Elaeocarpus, the Japanese Blueberry tree, is an attractive street or lawn tree and grows best in rich, well-draining soil. This tree grows 30'-60' tall and 20'-30' wide, with a densely branching, upright habit. The new leaves are rusty and hairy, turning smooth and bright green. The oldest leaves eventually drop, turning red before they fall. The tree blooms in summer, producing tiny, scented white flowers in long clusters, followed by blue-black fruits. Japanese Silver Tree (Neolitsea) is a fast growing tree with a broad cone shape, reaching 30'-45' in height with a 25'-40' width. The foliage is aromatic (it's related to the camphor tree). New leaves are bronze, drooping, and covered with silky white hairs. Mature leaves are dark green with velvety white undersides. It produces tiny, inconspicuous flowers and tiny fruits. It isn't fussy about soil. Both trees grow well in full sunshine to light shade, with regular water during the growing season.
