Hello, I want to build a raised flower bed in my front court yard, right against one of the exterior walls of my home. What do I need to do to prevent rotting and water damage of that wall? Thank you, Dawn |
Dawn, Don't pile soil against the wall. Either build up a raised bed wall in the back of the bed with timber or cinder block or just leave the bed lower than the base of the wall. If the home siding is wood it will rot if left in contact with soil or moist mulch. If it is brick the weep holes in the base of the brick wall need to be left open for drainage. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
