Our landscaper has selected and planted a Mandevilla and Madagascar
vine in a shaded area (under eaves on a trellis against the house) that gets indirect light. Both have failed. Please suggest a vine for this area.

Two flowering vines that do well in shade are Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) and Clematis. Star Jasmine will adapt to most soils but prefers slightly acidic soils; Clematis tend to prefer a neutral soil ph, so you might check that and amend the soil accordingly prior to planting, if necessary.
