None of the homes in Florida have spouting. We have a 12'x9' area in the front of our home that the sidewalk runs around. Water is constantly lying there and eventually runs over the sidewalk. Is there any type of ditch or drain that I can dig myself to help with the drainage?

Shelly,

You can put in an underground French Drain using gravel and a perforated and corregated pipe similar to that used for septic systems. Another option is to put a piece of 4" PVC under the existing sidewalk to allow the water to drain under it. Speak to a plumbing department person at your local Home Depot about these products and how to unstall them. Also ask about any drainage boxes with slitted tops to keep out debris.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
