I purchased one of your camellia bushes and is now having a problem with black spots on the leaves. What is this and how do I treat it?

Thanks,

Shari,

It may just be sooty mold growing on some honeydew, a substance secreted by certain insects. Thus your control steps could involve spraying an insecticide, spraying a fungicide or doing nothing at all. I suggest that you take a sample from the plant to your County Extension Office to see if they can help diagnose the problem and recommend an appropriate course of action.
