I would like to grow the Hardy Gardenia here in C.R. Fl and put them directly into ground, not in containers. Will they do well here even with the heat of the summer. We are considered zone 9 where we live. Also, what size, price and should I be ordering right now? |
Marianne, Monrovia is a wholesale nursery. Their plants are available only through local retail garden centers. Check out the following web site. It has a box for you to enter your zip code and will then give you a list of local retailers that carry Monrovia plants: http://www.monrovia.com/dealer... A retailer in your area can let you know which sizes of which plants they can get for you. Now is a good time to plant any woody ornamental. In fact the sooner the better to give them time before the onset of hot weather. 'Kleim's Hardy' gardenia is rated to cold zones 7 - 11 and heat zone 12. So it should be fine in your area. Provide a moist soil with compost or peat moss mixed in. Give it a location with morning sun and afternoon shade for best results. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
