Spring and fall are the optimal times to plant new trees and shrubs. That's when weather is cool and rainfall abundant, both of which help new plants establish their roots. Your winters are so mild, though, that you can successfully plant them now, as well. As for size, the larger ones will give your landscape a mature look, but they are more difficult to plant; smaller sizes are less expensive, are easier to plant, and will establish quickly. So, the size you choose will depend upon your budget and how soon you want your landscape to have that finished look.

Best wishes with your new trees!
