Picea pungens 'Montgomery' is a globe-shaped, compact blue spruces, similar to 'Globosa', growing into a broad, pyramid shape when mature. It grows 3-5" per year, eventually reaching a mature size of 3-4 ft. The foliage is blue, growth habit is upright and broad. It grows best in full sun (the site you describe sounds great). It is hardy to -50 to -40 F.
