| I am trying to identify a tree that I see regularly in Tucson. It is a small single trunk tree, probably about 8' tall, and I think it is single-trunked naturally rather than a multi-trunk that has been pruned. The bark is rough and scaley-looking, and dark. The leaves are oval, also dark, about 3-4 inches long, with serrated edges. The tree has white flowers; they appear to be single flowers, or single flowers in groups (not bunches like a lilac or stems like a salvia plant) and it was in flower until recently. This particular tree is stressed (in a construction zone) so it might ordinarily be lighter and smoother in the bark and might still in flower. I would really like to find out what this is - it is the only one I have seen. Thanks Maria Barr |
| I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that is, so I suggest you take a sample of it to your local Pima County Cooperative Ext., 4210 Campbell Ave, Tucson, 520- 626-5161. They have a hort agent as well as Master Gardeners who should be able to ID it. Good luck! |
