white sacs found in soil and mulch, also grubs - Knowledgebase Question

I was using a rake to reallocate my mulch when I discovered some of the mulch turning white, 2 large grubs, and several, miltisized, soft, gel-like

Barbara,

The large grubs are probably the larvae of rhinocerous beetles or some similar large beetle species. They are not much to be concerned over. I am not sure what the gell like sacs might be. You might consider taking some to your county Extension office to see if they have any ideas as to their identity. With a sample in hand they may be able to identify them.
