My son has a science fair project where he pours water into one Petunia plant and Coke into another Petunia plant to see how each grows. The one with Coke, of course, is not doing well at all. But what puzzled us is that it has a

Bernadette,

You got me on that one. There is nothing about Coke or petunias to give such a smell. The Coke is acidic and so some chemical reaction must be taking place with something in the soil mix, but what I don't know.
