I am trying to design a tropical landscape around a mediterrian style house with a small pool in back. If you have any ideas please let me know.

John,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

There are so many plant ideas for a tropical area. I would consider a palm or two, cycads, fatsia, aucuba, gingers, elephant ears, and hibiscus. For more ideas the following web site will allow you to search for Monrovia plants by name or attribute. When you get to the site select zone 8 and click on the box by "tropical" then hit the search button.
