Crepe Myrtle root systems - Knowledgebase Question

I want to plant a crepe myrtle in a bed behind a retianing wall. Do I need to be concened about root system damage to my wall?

As with any large plant, the crepe myrtle will have a proportionately large root system. The roots usually spread out at least twice as far as the branches. You will need to plant is back far enough to allow space for the roots without undue crowding once the crepe myrtle reaches its mature size, so plan ahead.
