I live in Anchorage Alaska and am a landscape designer. I currently am wanting to do my own yard. I was wondering if i can order directly form you or if you could give me the name of a company that would ship hostas up here to Anchorage. It is hard to get large, full hardy hostas here. Usually they are small and leggy. Can you give me a suggestion or work woth me in some way? Thank You Paige Manning

Thank you for asking but Monrovia is a wholesale only nursery and does not sell retail by web site or catalog. You might try working with local nurseries in your area to see if they would special order for you.

Otherwise, mail order catalogs such as Wayside Gardens do ship plants to Alaska

Most young hostas will look a bit sparse compared to their full mature size and will take several years to begin to look like their full potential. When making selections, I would suggest you look for varieties considered hardy to winter hardiness zone 3 even though your zip code places you in zone 4. This will assure they are fully able to handle your weather. Another approach might be to check with local garendeners and professional nurserymen and see if there are any varieties they find do especially well in your local area, perhaps they would share some divisions with you.

I hope this helps.
