When do bleeding hearts (dicentra spectabilis) bloom in northern New Jersey?

As with most perennials there is no set week that they would bloom as it depends on the weather each year as well as the microclimate where they are planted. As a rule though you would look for blooms in the spring sometime in April or May. They can bloom over a period of several weeks if the weather stays cool, shorter if it turns suddenly hot.
