The Q&A Archives: Eradicating Pachysandra

Question: what chemical control is there that will kill a large area, of pachysandra, 2000 sq ft, so that it can be replaced with grass ?

Answer: So you'd really rather cut a lawn than play tennis or golf, eh? Do you know how many people would love to have your "problem"? How about running an advertisement in your local "throw sheet" which would probably be free (or very cheap)asking if folks would like to come and TAKE your pachysandra for free? Talk to your neighbors, tell them to please come and take it. Maybe even a nursery would come!

Pachysandra is a useful groundcover in moist, shady places. If this descibes youre, do any necessary trimming to increase light exposure. After the fabric comes up, improve drainage in the soil with generous applications of organic matter (compost, aged manure, leaf mold), and seed the area.
