I am getting married in Colorado on July 8th, and would like to use potted flowers in various, bright colors (red, purple, yellow, orange) for my centerpieces. Can you tell if there are any flowers that fit that need and will be available at that time? How early can I safely purchase them and keep them in my home to ensure they will still be blooming on the 8th?

There are many plants you could use in those colors, but availability will depend on local supplies. I would suggest you consult directly with your local florists and nurseries and see what they could supply for you. Generally speaking, it would probably be better to pick them up the day before you use them as it can be difficult to hold plants for any length of time under home conditions and keep them in top condition. Since these would be live plants you would also have to make arrangements to have them watered daily, and to protect the table top or surfaces from water damage. In view of the care these need it may be less nerve wracking to use cut flowers, also, in my experience the supply for cut flowers is more predictable so you will be assured of blooms in the color you want on the day you need them. Best of luck with all the arrangements for your wedding!
