I just pruned my crape myrtle, and I have a LOT of cuttings. Is there any reason I cannot burn the cuttings in my fireplace?

Ted,

If you burn them soon after pruning they will have sap in them and be reluctant to burn and also tend to crackle and pop sending sparks out from the fire. Once they are dry they can be burned but will burn quickly and not produce much heat.
