I planted cupressus sempervirens glauca very close to my house wall. Now I am concerned if roots of cupressus can damage the house and underground pipes? How deep and how wide can roots spread? thank you. |
Your new Italian cypress can grow quite tall but will remain only 3-4 feet wide at maturity. They'll need at least that much room, plus 6-12 additional inches for good air circulation behind the plants. The roots will remain in the top 12" of soil and radiate out almost twice the diameter of the plant. You may need to move yours away from your house to ensure adequate growing space. |
