| I have a 6ft redwood fence with two large pine trees on eiether side of a 12ft planting area. In the center I have a 2 ft wide mirrow-doorway with treillis on either side. I'd like to plant a 5 gallon Gem Camellia on either far side, and 2 flowering vines growing up the trellis. Do I have enought room? |
| Nuccio's Gem Camellia can grow 8' tall and wide at maturity, but can be kept smaller with pruning. I'd vote for a groundcover rather than a climbing vine near the camellias so there won't be competition for space as the plants mature. Overcrowded plants tend to be more prone to diseases so keeping additional plants at the foot of your camellias will provide an attractive landscape without the concern that the plants will grow together and try to occupy the same space.
