re Prunus cerasifera 'Krauter's Vesuvius': will it tolerate some shade and some acidity? I want to plant in an area that is near a pine tree that sheds a fair amount of needles at certain time of the year and creates some afternoon shade.
thank you.

Carissa macrocarpa 'Variegata' grows in full sun or light shade so the site you describe should be just fine. It adapts well to all soil types (sand, clay, loam) and nearly any degree of acidity or alkalinity. The pine needles will acidify the soil slightly, but that should not affect Carissa. Best wishes with your garden!
