| Carissa macrocarpa 'Variegata' grows in full sun or light shade so the site you describe should be just fine. It adapts well to all soil types (sand, clay, loam) and nearly any degree of acidity or alkalinity. The pine needles will acidify the soil slightly, but that should not affect Carissa.
