Can chinese fringe flower thrive and bloom in morning sun and afternoon full shade in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area?
Does it require acidic soil or alkaline? I have been told both

Amy,

Yes it can grow and do well in such conditions. It prefers more sun but can take a half day and still bloom well enough. That plant prefers a slightly acidic to neutral soil and will tend to show interveinal yellowing on new leaves if the soil pH is too alkaline. This can be remedied by applications of chelated iron around the plant.
