The Q&A Archives: O'Neill Red Horse Chestnut

Question: I am placing this tree in a design for a client in the Atlanta area (zone 7B). Pike's nursery carries this but cannot tell me much more about it. Is it succeptable to blight?

Answer: Krista,

Despite the fact that horse chestnut has a name similar to chestnut it is a very different and unrelated genus and species. It is not at all susceptible to chestnut blight.
