I purchased a Meyer Improved Lemon from Molbak's in Woodinville, Wa about a month ago. It has one large lemon on it BUT the leaves and blossoms are dropping all over the place. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have the tree inside until the threat of frost is over. What am I doing or not doing to cause such loss of leaves and blossoms and how can I solve this problem before I lose the tree? |
It sounds as though your little lemon tree is suffering from the stress of being taken from ideal growing conditions at the nursery to your home where the light is dim and the soil may have become too dry. At this point, provide bright light (but not direct sunlight), keep the soil moist but not soggy wet, and withhold fertilizer until your tree develops new foliage. It will probably recover, but may not flower and set fruit until it becomes completely healthy again. Best wishes with your new little tree! |
