| I am looking to build a very tall long fence along the back of my property. Its partly shade and partly sun. We are using heavy duty lattace fencing. I am looking for a climbing plant that covers well, pretty to look at, and smells great for my zone, which I believe is zone 5b. Any suggestions... all are welcome! Thank you, Jenn |
| Fragrant flowers in a shady spot can be a real challenge to find! A good selection would be the sweet autumn clematis (C. terniflora although also seen as C. paniculata). This plant will reach about 25 feet if left unpruned, but can be cut back hard once each spring and will stay about half that size as a result. It may need some help to reach the top of the fence, but once there it will scramble along the top and cascade a bit with a billowy effect. It will tolerate partial shade. |
