I need a good evergreen shrub for the front of my house at the foundation. It gets partial sun, usually in the morning and some in the afternoon. I'd like it to be mounding not necessarly tall, maybe to 8 feet 6 feet wide. Something that can be pruned to contain size and shape. Thank you, Lynn Butler

A yew would possibly fit the bill, including the pruning and partial sun location. You might also consider boxwoods, although very slow growing. Your local professional nursery staff may have other suggestions, and should be able to help you evaluate the growing conditions and identify evergreens that would do well there, as well as meet your design criteria.
